FLO: A 2.7 MW Ecomax plant makes manufacturing of disposable plastic cups more efficient

Flo has been producing disposable plastic items like cups, plates and cutlery since the 1970s. Wanting to rise above the competition and cut down operating costs, the company installed a 2.7 MW ECOMAX® cogeneration plant in 2015. The energy produced by the plant meets 100% of the company’s electricity needs and 80% of its heating needs. What makes this plant unique is a lithium bromide absorber able to transform hot water into cold water, which is then used to chill moulds and other machinery. Flo is accruing white certificates as a result of the plant’s extremely high efficiency and to leverage the benefits, the company recently decided to install a new plant at one of its branch factories.
