BIOMETHANE PLANT IN FRANCE: THE COËVRONS PLANT

13 January 2023

BIOGAS FROM ORGANIC WASTE
• BIOMETHANE PRODUCED: 2,060,000 Nm³/ year
BIOMETHANE FED INTO THE NATIONAL GAS NETWORK
• TYPE OF PLANT: BIOCH4NGE® 5
• COUNTRY: FRANCE

The Coëvrons Biogas Plant, designed and operated by ENGIE BiOZ, injectes into the natural gas network about 2,060,000 Nm³ of biomethane/year, the equivalent of the annual gas consumption of about 1,900 households (*an average 4-person household with gas consumes about 12 MWh/year).
In addition, it avoids the emission of 4,800 tons of CO₂ each year. The biomethane is produced from organic waste (up to 82 tons per day) provided by 21 local farms, food-processing industries and communities. This plant contributes to a better valorization of the organic waste of the area, turning it into energy and natural fertilizers.
The biogas-to-biomethane upgrading system is a membrane-based BIOCH4NGE provided by AB, able to produce on a continuous basis 240 Nm³/h of green gas.
