Orzinuovi (BS), 11 November 2025 – AB, a global leader in energy sustainability solutions, announces another significant milestone in the United States: the supply of cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 250 megawatts to power future data centers in Texas and Wyoming dedicated to artificial intelligence development.
The agreement, signed through AB Energy USA with Conduit Power LLC—an independent best in class power producer and provider of distributed generation solutions—includes the manufacturing in Italy and delivery of 75 ECOMAX® modules equipped with Innio Jenbacher 620 engines and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems capable of meeting the most stringent federal and state environmental standards.
The plants, designed and built at AB’s production hub in Orzinuovi (Brescia), will serve as the energy backbone of the new data centers in the United States, ensuring high-efficiency power, operational reliability, and environmental sustainability. This is one of the most important orders ever acquired by AB in the North American market, confirming the competitiveness and excellence of Italian manufacturing applied to the most advanced digital infrastructure.
This initiative strengthens AB’s presence in the United States, where the Group has operated since 2012 and recently established its new headquarters in The Woodlands (Texas) — a key state in the American energy sector — while further reinforcing its strategic partnership with Conduit Power, which is developing additional projects for a total capacity of 350 MW by 2027 and further expansion planned for late 2027 and 2028
At the same time, this achievement is also significant news for Italy and Europe, where the growing demand for data centers will require reliable and sustainable energy solutions. In this context, AB is ready to meet the new needs of the European market as well, particularly in light of the requirements set by EU Directive 2023/1791, which mandates heat recovery and efficient energy use in new facilities.
In addition to meeting the energy needs of next-generation data centers, AB’s technological solutions make a concrete contribution to decarbonization goals: the first step is energy efficiency, combined with synergies with renewable sources — particularly solar power with storage — and the use of biomethane instead of fossil gas. The installed engines are also Hydrogen Ready, prepared to use hydrogen blends for increasingly clean and flexible power generation. These features not only ensure rapid activation and reliable power supply for data centers, but also provide an important flexibility resource for the grid, integrating on-site generation with the needs of the local energy system.
“Bringing our technology — entirely designed and built in Italy — to serve the data centers powering artificial intelligence in the United States is a source of pride and demonstrates how innovation and sustainability can become a global competitive advantage,” said Angelo Baronchelli, President of AB. “With this order from Conduit, which adds to others already acquired in the sector, AB confirms its international leadership in cogeneration and high-efficiency distributed generation, contributing to the development of an energy ecosystem capable of supporting the digital and environmental transition worldwide.
“With 300 MW available for our planned 2027 off-grid deployments, Conduit is uniquely positioned to meet the speed-to-market requirements that define today’s unprecedented data center load expansion,” said Matt Herpich, CEO of Conduit Power. “Because of our partnership with Gruppo AB, Conduit can bring power to new U.S. data centers, independent of grid connection timeline constraints.”
